The Day After Tomorrow

So my Dad and Marcial (visiting cousin from Kansas) watched this movie last night, and are convinced Katrina is related to global warning.
They didn't laugh as I thought they would, when I told them Alison's idea for keeping a dingy. (An idea made in gest.) The Dad was thinking he might need one.

Oy.

for the record, i don't want any part of me cryogenically preserved

Any why, does anyone know, did they decide to remove Ted's head in the first place? Did he put it in his will? (Ugh. I hope his family had nothing to do with it.)

'Death Mask' of Baseball Star's Severed Head Featured in Exhibit

Ted Williams' Life or Death Controversy Resurrected

NEW YORK, Aug. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- What would be the ultimate prize for a big-game collector of memorabilia from a larger-than-life sports legend? Curious gallery goers may find an answer in the new exhibit titled The Ted Williams Memorial Display with Death Mask from The Ben Affleck 2004 World Series Collection, hosted by the Chelsea district's First Street Gallery. The gallery kicks off its season with the world premier unveiling of the 'death mask' of baseball great Ted Williams' clinically decapitated frozen head.

i know, i know. this is old news. and in light of the ugly head katrina is raising, this isn't important. (side note: who wants bets on whether the superdome in new orleans will fill to capacity. they're at a count of 10,000 now, with 2,000, or so I heard, in line.)

so i started a new fat blog, to keep track of the Jim Project. I'm spelling "gym" as "jim" so that when I talk about it, one might think i'm referring to a guy. (And no, not the gay co-worker.)

I've joined the ranks of equinox. ANd I have to say, it's really, really nice. Once I understood the need for a bloody lock, I was able to do a test drive today. (I signed up on the 23rd, missed out Friday and then was in L.I.) I went for the uber package, so I could try all of the locations out.

63rd & Lex

but back to the blog. it's hard to find a short name that hasn't already been taken to include as part of the base URL. "fatgirl", "biggirl", "lotsofme", "loser" etc. (all taken), And so I settled on 'rasva'. (not Raska, a province in Russia.) It means fat in finnish. I know this from buying milk.

Like they do here, you can pick out your milk by fat percentage. (Same thing for cheese. A word I keep wanting to spell with a "z" in it. I want to blame Cheetos...but there isn't a "z" in sight.)

side note: they're moving the dolphins and seal lions from a seaside New Orleans park to a hotel further inland. they're turning the pool into a sea / salt environment. (kind of smart thinking there.)

I wonder what a dip pool is. (they have one in the 63rd location.)

how come the ny area never gets the cheapy car rental rates?

it's $19 in san diego per day this weekend for some rental company. and 92.99 a DAY in the NYC area.

i don't want to own a car, nor do I want to pay thru the nose for a car. and then there is gas on top of that. if i had rented a zip car early enough, i could have paid the $65 daily summer rate...but there are only $85 cars left. i am forced to schlept it out to long islandon LIRR>

I hate the LIRR>

p.s. My pull out couch now works.

(yay!)

on demand

i shouldn't be telling anyone this, but i watch approximately 7 hours of Six Feet Under between last night and this morning

i haven't been watching since I lived with the heathens on the other side of sunnyside. i cried and cried so much i had to break out the kleenex. my cats clustered at my feet. i don't think they knew what to do.

i'm going to buy some drano. i wasted saturdya, and aof course, the super doesn't work on sundays. so the drain in the bath hasn't been snaked.

i can't decide what kind of snacky food treats to buy for the week. or if i even want to fo to the supermarket. as i've lamented before, the shopping options here are not ideal. it's blah. and limited.

until sufficient kinetic travel energy has accumulated, i'm wathcing discovery home. if i had a barbeque (or a backyard for that matter) what i'm learning would be useful.

sign.

wow

that worked.

i 'm readxy for bed.

fun night.

um

...
shame.e
.

eek.

(i know)

i set my alarm for 7.30

and yet my body decided that 5.30am was a more opportune time.

i refuse to be prductive at this hour. i'm hoping i can nap my way back to sleep. the itchniness factor from my mosquito bites is distracting, so 'm not holdin gout much hope. i briefly entertained cleaning but tosseed that. instead i looked thru the august sale flyer from fortunoff while watching the discovery health channel.

my wheal is itchy. (I have 3 - so not too bad, but still.)

oh

I'm very sad Peter Jennings has passed. I just turned on the television to grab 10 minutes of news and had to hit re-dial to tell my mom.

didn't he just publically release the news that he had cancer? i don't know, but i feel like having had him in my living room over the years made him part of - something. i'm babbling. thankfully the effects of the relafen I took earlier have worn off.

(oof).
