there goes my nap

i thought i saw a girl from high school on the style network (I was right) and am now envious that the road less travelled has proved fruitful for her. Don't get me wrong - it's awsome she's got such a variety of jobs that bring in income. I'm just bored with myself. I wonder what happened to my creative streak?want

bummer

i didn't win the lottery on July 9

:(

i don't care how much it costs

it's too hot in the living room. I can't wait for the GE
AGW12AH to arrive. It sounds blessed.

Ok, so I'll tell you what not to watch...Discovery HOME Double Agents. Egads, I just spent a half hour with an annoying couple (Pam & JOhn) shopping for their first home. (They're getting married blah blah.) What they would never consider is high-end in the NYC metro area. Geesuz.

Ooo! OO! THe Daily Show. (I am loving having cable TV)

I started the night off wrestling with a myriad of cables. I was attempting to hook up the cable box to the TV/PC in the living room. (Turns out I either am missing or need to buy a 'remote sensor'. I left Charlie a message to see if he remembers seeing one when he set up the computer. But I suspect I'll have to venture out to a store tomorrow to pick one up.)

When the clock blinked 8.45 I gave up and plugged the little 13 inch into the cable box in the living room. (it was easier to move the TV than redo all the connections. Besides, I don't think having a tv in my room has helped this week with my lack of sleep.)

So now I'm using my huuuuge monitor to surf from my couch...while squinting at the tele. (eyeroll - only in my house.)

on the plus side, tomorrow i'll be able to work from home. (This is where shelling out the dough for a pc really comes into play.) I'm so excited b/c i'll finally be able to do my laundry. it's been so humid lately that i've been afraid to go. my parents are going to try and drop the long table off. ( a home for the tv/pc, cables, etc.)

alright.

daylight savings

anyone else get a chuckle out of the latest from our government?

what genius ideas do they have? (that will muck up international travel, raising the cost of travel?)

As a step to save energy, Congress appears poised to extend U.S. daylight-saving time for two months, starting it earlier, on the first Sunday in March, and ending it later, on the last Sunday of November.

doesn't sound like a big deal. the idea is to keep the amount of electricity we use down to a minimum. (we'd consume less petroleum.) aside from going to work in the dark (ok, that's annoying) it would widen even further the time difference with Europe and India. I refuse to make calls before 7am. Sidenote: if you're a parent sending your child to school in the dark might call for alternate commute options. (Hello creepy stalkers and murderers.)

it's hot

anyone else feel like they're melting to the sidewalk?

so for fun, and my satisfaction level at the office, i've been waking up around 3-4 am every day. then (oh it gets better) I get sleepy around 6pm. right before my alarm goes off (give or take a little). i, being the intelligent one, promptly turn the alarm off....only rising to make a mad dash to the office. (it's hot enough that only wearing under eye makeup is passable.)

eck.

i'm SO freaking tired.

my eyes hurt, yet i can't fall asleep at a decent hour.

i'm trying the brass ball tactics tonight, and having a drink. vodka and diet coke.

(fingers crossed)

even more interesting

she was let go b/c of her posting.

why share with an employer (her boss!) that she has blog...and then proceed to complain about work. AND bringing a laptop to work under the guise of filling out graduate school essays is one thing, posting blog entries is another.

if only my life were this interesting

a 26-year-old former teacher with excellent references, liked to touch her breasts while reading The New Yorker and often woke her lovers in the night by biting them. She took sleeping pills, joked about offbeat erotic fantasies involving Tucker Carlson and determined she'd had more female sexual partners than her boyfriend.

I don't have a nanny (or kids) but got a kick out of the lead in to the new york times article,"the new nanny diaries are online"

er, oops. (i guess I should read further, but i'm assuming this woman is no longer a nanny, or seeking employment as one. it might be kind of difficult to find a job watching kids now.)

sporadic coverage

after spending entirely too long learning the difference between PC Analog and PC Digital modes on my TV, I've finally turned my computer on. (Well, been able to see what is on the monitor/screen).

Oy.

On the plus side, I've just installed software for my free printer (once my rebate arrives), wireless keyboard and mouse, and my old canon camera.

I'm loathe to turn the damn thing off. Oh, great. i can see that my cable line has gone out again

it has a remote!!!

NO really.

AND, I test drove the recorder, and it's awesome.

I have no other adjectives available at this time, thank you.

it's a good thing the cable man is coming saturday

with the schwanky new computer, I've unfortunately lost the food network, history channel, pbs, bbc, etc.
