continuation of fictional shopping
I want an upgrade in my granny cart:
The day of the car is becoming critical. I reserve my shopping for heavy objects only when the rentals visit. Or I visit them. It would also be heavenly to be able to drive out to visit vs. taking the LIRR.(the whole thing about going to the 7 train, going 3 stops to wait for the hourly commuter stinks. there is absolutely nothing that spells comfort about the experience. the mesh metal benches in Woodside are either covered by pidgeon poo, unidentifiable dirt or the homeless. (well, or incredibly poorly dressed)
what started my online search through the container store, was interest in shelving for the closet/storage area left of the fridge. i was uber impressed with myself when i hung hooks for my mop, broom, swifter entourage. in theory, there is room for my vacuum family. i want bins like
this, but perhaps stackable from the top shelf? Something that doesn't require screws, yet sturdy enough to hold hefty items.
Hmmm. I wonder what target has? The Queens store was a mob scene so I rushed through it. But online...
things i didn't know i needed
(or that they existed)
- undershelf placemat holder
- well, I knew this existed, but not as fancy at petco (
plus they never seem to have them in stock)
pet food can cover
- check this out:
same concept, but debate-ably cuter
- the instant mix basket is only for studio dwellers, those with small kitchens, or, well, men (who is would buy that?)
- large plastic storage bin for pet food ok, so i'm being facetious. it's a plastic box with lid. and the version I bought at target is the same size and a fourth of the price. I have a sharpie and could also label it. but, come to think of it, I don't anticipate confusing pet chow with any pasta or other dry foods inhouse
- ok, actually, this is a better idea than I what I bought:
storage bins that can be opened when stacked
I remember the first time I saw a walk-in pantry. I was fascinated with the idea that people could actually devote an entire room to ... spices? Ok, so I now I know it's the catch all for anything purchased in bulk that you might eventually use in the kitchen or bring to a table.
I went online this morning (in the very dark a.m.) because I'm catching cold. the warm fuzzy heat of a fever is creeping up, and the incessant sneezing was getting old. plus, I was wide awake. i slept like a log friday night after indulging in half an ambien. i was out until past 9am Saturday, and only got up at 11am because I knew I had cleaning to do. well, and my parents were coming. (they didn't get here until late late after noon)
erin is coming sunday to visit while she works. it's a motivator for me to get more organized at home (again read into this as: shame irene into living like other humans). really, all that means is an acceleration of my cleaning cycle. i wasn't born organized. i need to make an effort to do it. and in the day to day sense - that means i more prone to leaving something askew for a while until compelled to act.
the pile i have for things to hang was getting out of control, so I procrastinated further by going to Target to buy things to hang with. Then my dad came back and made two enormous holes in my hallway...fine and dandy until he hit brick. I know have a masonry drill, but no idea which one. (lack of tool knowlege runs in the family.) So I'll look online to see which bit to use to get that last 1/2 inch that I need. I'm determined to hang the beautiful mirror Trisha gave me, even if it kills me.
I would insert a sniffle here, except that when I blow my nose it sounds like a duck honking.
Geez. Thank goodness for Puffs Plus.
the city of lights
philly was cool! i've been quiet w/o a computer the last couple of weeks. the mac is on bed rest, and i've not had a moment to think in the office. doing an activity every weekend hasnt' helped either.
inpired (read: shamed) by a visit to erin's fabulous apartment, I came home and actually used my power tool. my mop, swiffer duster, etc. now have a home to hang in. and the wire mesh shelves are finally up in my pantry. i'm stumped by which drill bit is appropriate for my hard-as-rocks walls.
and so i'm online using the work computer...which reminds me, I was supposed to look and see which T version I have from IBM. T21. For which gently used versions are available on overstock. Hmmm. Perhaps.
